Julie Michaels Keegan is an experienced attorney who has devoted her practice to meeting the lifelong needs of children with differing abilities. Having negotiated the special education system for members of her own family, Julie understands firsthand the challenges parents face when trying to obtain the right educational environment and related services for a child with special needs. She also knows the importance of future care planning for special children.
Julie is a magna cum laude graduate of Albany Law School, is a member of the Council of Parent Advocates and Attorneys, the Special Education Task Force in Albany, the NYS Bar Association’s Committee on Issues Affecting Persons with Disabilities, and is a former Governing Board member of the Center for Disability Services. She regularly provides workshops and training on many topics related to her practice for a variety of organizations, including the local Autism Society, the Center for Disability Services, Down Syndrome Resource Center, Families Together in New York State, the Family Resource Network, and the New York and Schenectady County Bar Associations, as well as many parent advocacy groups.
